무기의 발전과 전쟁 영향에 관한 사례연구 : 고려시대를 중심으로 = A Case Study on Weapon’s Development and Warfare Influence: In Koryo Period

This paper focused on the question that which effect was influenced by the development of weapon system in the field in Kyoro Dynasty and dedicated to implications for today and tomorrow. This paper found the following conclusions.
In the result, before the military coup era, concentration on developing defense weapons for castles was devoted to denying the invasion from the Liao Dynasty in the early Koryo Dynasty. However, the domestically unstable situation from maternal relatives of the King led the stagnation of developing weapon system, and it frustrated the conquest of the Jurchen. After the military coup era, the development of the weapon system was on the ebb further, consequently, the Koryo was miserably defeated by Mongol. In the late Koryo, it contributed a big role to subdue the invasion of the Japanese raiders effectively by restarting the development with the positive introduction of power weapon.
On balance, the development of the weapon system in the Koryo could be expressed as the flow of - Depression - Stagnation - Backwardness - Innovation. This research gives historical lessons to the Republic of Korea as follows: military and privates should make a concerted effort to harmonize the consistency and innovation in the development of weapon system to prepare war at the national security aspect.
