각막굴절교정학용 렌즈는 주변부에 비해 중심부가 평평하게 디자인된 경성 산소 투과 렌즈로 근시 각막굴절교정수술과 유사하게 중심 각막을 편평하게 만들어 각막굴절력을 감소시켜 결과적으로 굴절 이상을 교정한다. 굴절교정 효과는 일시적이지만 매일 수면 시일정한 착용을 통하여 낮 동안의 안경 착용으로부터 자유로울 수 있는 이점이 있다. 그러나 역기하로 제작되어 각막 표면을 누르는렌즈 디자인은 각막상피에 영향을 미쳐 눈과 렌즈의 유착, 각막형광염색 및 각막염과 같은 각막 이상, 알레르기성 결막염, 각막굴절교정학용 렌즈의 중심 이탈 및 시력 불량 등 다양한 합병증이 발생 가능하다. 본고를 통해 각막굴절교정학용 렌즈의 주요 합병증과해결 방법에 대해 알아보고자 한다.
