A statistical technique was presented to develop a local volume table for Korean White Pine plantation in Gapyung, Kyunggi Province. For this, the most appropriate regression model form for individual tree volume was first selected from four cadidate models based on the evaluation statistics.
Regression coefficents for the selected model were then estimated using OLS. Another regression equation was also developed to represent height-DBH relationship of Korean White Pine for the plantation. The height factor of independent variable in the individual tree volume equation was then substituted by the height curve equation so that the individual volume was finally estimated by DBH only.
The resulting local volume table provided relatively accurate volume estimation. However, the volume of smaller DBH class in the table might be overestimated compared with the existing volume table. This fact might result from the lack of sample data used and the site quality of the plantation in terms of tree growth.
