      The aim of this study was to test the influence of 3 ㎎ · ㎏?¹ caffeine on mean body temperature (mTb), leukocyte counts in blood in hot environment (temperature; 30.2±0.24, humidity; 50.0±2.14%). Study was random, double blind, crossover desi...

      The aim of this study was to test the influence of 3 ㎎ · ㎏?¹ caffeine on mean body temperature (mTb), leukocyte counts in blood in hot environment (temperature; 30.2±0.24, humidity; 50.0±2.14%). Study was random, double blind, crossover designed. A sample of 12 sedentary female and college students (age, 22.20±1.l0 yrs; height, 162.41±3.35 ㎝; body weight, 51.20±4.76㎏; VO₂max, 32.01±0.72 ㎖ · ㎏?¹ · min?¹; body surface area, 1.52±0.99㎡; BMI, 22.14±3.65 ㎏ · m?²) were assigned to a control group (Con-G; non-caffeine), placebo group (Plac-G; starch intake of 3 ㎎ · ㎏?¹), caffeine group (Caff-G; caffeine intake of 3 ㎎ · ㎏?¹). Each groups carried out running on a treadmill for 40 minutes at 60% intensity of VO₂max. mTb was significant difference among groups (p<0.01) and showed higher. So, Whole body sweating loss volume (WBSLV) was higher on Caff-G and significant difference among groups (p<0.001). Leukocytes counts was increased rate after physical work in all groups and higher on Caff-G (19.1%) and significant different among groups (p<0.01). we derived the conclusion that while the consumption of 3 ㎎ · ㎏?¹ of caffeine before physical work in hot temperature is increasing mTb and effect on leukocyte counts. But we can not exclude the possibility completely that effects of caffeine on the immunocytes reaction.
