The purpose of this study is to find the effect of systematic environmental protection training for kindergarten children. The subjects of this study was 60 children living in Kyongju, age 4 and 5 years old. They were divided into two groups (an experimental group of 30 and a controlled group of 30). The experiment lasted 4 weeks from March 12 to April 7, 2001. The tools the writer used were the ones she made by studying many previous studies. As to the treatment of data, she used the T-test to verify the group differences. The conclusions of the study are as follows: First, it has been proved that the effect of training done at the kindergarten level about environmental education was very effective. Therefore, these environmental educational programs have greatly increased the children`s awareness of our environmental issues. Second, the over all effect of environmental protection through this education was shown to be higher with boys than with girls. Except for the protection of water, boys showed higher levels of interest than girls in the areas of air, soil, garbage and recycling. Third, the environmental protection awareness gained through this education was higher in 5-year old children than in 4-year old children. This result shows their environmental protection awareness differs according to their age. The older they are, the higher awareness they have.
