대학 교양수업에서의 초급과정 영어 글쓰기 교육의 실제 － 패턴과 피드백을 중심으로 = A Practical Study of English Writing Education in College English Classes for beginners - Focused on English Patterns and Feedback

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the study is to introduce how to teach effectively an freshmen English course that focuses the ways to help the college students improve their English writing skills in English Classes for beginners. As you know, a lot of students have many difficulties to write in English and they have many errors in their writings due to English-Korean differences, Grammar and their little-proficiency in English. This study introduces two kinds of activities which help improve students’ writing skills in the class.
First, one approach is ‘patterned-words and phrases’ which are helpful to students. While studying English writing with patterned-words and phrases. Students can have some confidence and courage to write something in English. And the other is to provide students with peer feedback and teacher feedback. They can also give students interest in English writing, self-confidence and expectations that they can do write in English.
Through the two kinds of ways, college students will be able to improve writing skills significantly and they can have motivation to write in English. Also, both teachers and students communicate well in the classes. The two ways are helpful to teachers and students teach and learn in English classes for beginners.
In conclusion, ‘patterned-words and phrases’ and ‘peer feedback and teacher feedback’ are important to improve English writing skills.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 대학의 교양 교육에서 한 축을 차지하는 영어 과목은 이전과는 다른 변화된 교육을지향하여 수준별 수업이나 다양한 멀티미디어를 활용하는 생산적인 방향으로 나아가고 있다. 그러나 이러한 상황에서도 영어 글쓰기 교육은 상대적으로 여러 가지 제약으로 인해 부족하다고 할 수 있다. 국제화된 기업환경과 다양한 사업 현장에서 가장 많이 요구되는 영어 능력중 하나가 영어 글쓰기라는 사실은 자명하다. 이에 본 논문은 4년제 대학교 1학년 초급 과정교양 영어강의에서 패턴화된 단어나 구를 제시하여 쓰기를 하고 이를 통해 도출된 문장을 동료 피드백과 교수자 피드백을 통해 적극적이고 효과적인 영어 쓰기 연습으로 진행하는 과정을 제시하고자 한다. 이러한 과정의 영어 글쓰기 연습은 학습자들과 교수자 사이의 상호 의사소통 또한 원활하게 일어날 수 있는 쌍방향/다방향의 교육이 될 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
현재 Covid-19의 상황 속 대면/비대면 혼용의 강의 방식에서도 활용 가능한 이러한 글쓰기교육은 이뿐만 아니라 어떠한 교실의 환경에서도 활용할 수 있는 적극적 영어 쓰기 교육의방법이라 생각한다.
