The contents of Cd, Cu, Mn, and Pb in the hairdyes and dyed hairs were measured by ICP.
Mean concentrations of heavy metals in hairdyes were Cd 0.026 ppm, Cu 2.969 ppm, Mn 0.249
ppm and Pb 0.108 ppm. These results are below the limit values of heavy metals for industrial
products. Mean concentrations of heavy metals in the dyed hairs were Cd 0.410 ppm, Cu 63.55
ppm, Mn 32.95 ppm and Pb 10.52 ppm. Human health risk by using hairdye is estimated to be
low. But heavy metals can be accumulated in human body, evaluation of health risk by
consecutive use of the hairdye should be conducted in the future.
