In this study, a GFRP composite coil spring for automobiles was fabricated using the braiding method, and a durability test was conducted to evaluate reliability considering long-term operating conditions. Before and after the tests, loaddisplacement and free height changes were analyzed, and stiffness with the specifications of steel springs was evaluated. A method of cutting and testing a part of a manufactured spring to reduce the production cost of a prototype was established through structural analysis, and the validity of the test method was confirmed by conducting an actual test. The tested spring was visually inspected to observe defects, and damage evaluation was conducted by checking the original crack distribution and new crack initiation and its propagation behavior in the spring using SEM.
