Geologist and engineering geologist have used 2D GIS to model geological structures. In geology and engineering geology, however, most of the variables including strata structures are fully three-dimensional. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a method to deal with these data in 3D GIS. Boring data and discontinuity data are very important to evaluate the stability of rock mass. Therefore, it is aimed to transforming these data into the format which can be used in 3D GIS. Borehole data are divided into layers data and rock-types data. They are stored in separate tables. For discontinuity data, a surface was created from orientation data at a point using the plane equation. Using this method, the data from a tunnel construction site in Korea is visualized and analyzed. It was possible to recognize the 3D structure of underground space easily. Moreover, 3D spatial query enabled the inter-relationship between the data to be revealed without much effort.
