A skid resistance of the pavement may be decreased due to worn of texture or separate of aggregates on surface because repeat traffic load and action weather for desigr period. It is managing to maintain adequate value at maintenance and management level, prevent minimum value when it is down less than considered minimum value at fist design step. The purpose of this study was to improve applying domestic reviewed skid resistance of the pavements when geometric design and maintenance of the highway are performed. A design parameter of the geometric of highway in Korea was compared to review different another countries through literatures and papers. A parameter of skid resistance of the pavement may be necessary to need standardization when geometric of highway is designed to apply longitudinal skid resistance of the pavement in Korea because different design geometric of the pavement another countries. The skid testing was performed to analysis of surface condition of pavement using the ASTM E274 standard skid tester at new construction highway and old highway. The testing method for skid resistance of the pavements was reviewed to increase skid resistance of the pavement through increased skid resistance factor and adequate design geometric of the highway. The results of this study were used higher value in Korea compared to European countries for skid resistance parameter of geometric design of highway. The geometric design standard in Korea is very similar in the United State. If using higher value of geometric design factor of the highway may be have spent many of construction cost. The parameter value of geometric design of highway in korea will be has to need adequate standardization for applying road. The skid resistance testing was performed on some highway section. The new construction pavement has higher value more than considered minimum value when first geometric design step of highway had skid resistance value. In case of the old pavements, the skid resistance value has litter low less than new construction pavement, therefore the old pavements will be necessary systematically and periodically management.
