AN old and ever-fascinating story, related with a thousand variations in every tongue since Babel, is that which tells how once upon a time some lucky individual effected an exchange of personality with some one else. But whether the fancy involves an emperor masquerading as a clown, a tinker for an hour on the throne, or a dairy-maid dancing at a duchess' ball, it is after all the echo of an inborn wish, an impulse, strong in most of us at times, to break away and have a try at being something other than we are, if only for the joy of taking up the old familiar habit once again.
