칠레 쿠데타의 기억: 포스트혁명 시대의 죽음의 비행 = The Memory of Chile's Coup: The Flight of Death in the Postrevolution Era

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

By Night in Chile(2000) by Roberto Bolaño is a novel about the person who became an absolute power in the literary field for his service to political power during the period of Pinochet's military dictatorship. Therefore, it usually causes a political reading. However, it is a novel worthy of being addressed in the light of the postdictatorial theory, established by Alberto Moreiras and Idelber Avelar. Above all, Bolaño's approach to the bombardment and the vigil by the helicopter at the moment of the coup shows a clear symptom of melancholy according to Freud, an important inspirator in that theory. While Raú Zurita, a Chilean poet, tries to create a condition of mourning through the flight of life in a performance, Bolaño gives the impression that he immortalizes the flight of death by not getting rid of the trauma of the coup. Although the postdictatorial theory offers solid arguments to interpret By Night in Chile, this novel can not be classified as a postdictatorship novel, because Bolaño's trauma is rooted in the disillusion regarding to the era of revolution of Latin America. Therefore, this article proposes to read it as a postrevolution novel.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

로베르또 볼라뇨의 칠레의 밤(2000)은 삐노체뜨 군사독재 시대에 정권에 협력한 대가로 문학의 장에서 절대 권력이 된 인물을 다룬 소설이다. 그 때문에 이 작품은 흔히 정치적 독해를 유발한다. 그러나 칠레의 밤은 알베르또 모레이라스와 이데우베르 아벨라르의 포스트독재 소설 논의에 입각해 접근하기 더 적합한 소설이다. 특히 볼라뇨가 쿠데타 당시의 폭격과 헬리콥터를 문학적으로 형상화한 방식은, 이 이론에 중요한 영감을 준 프로이트의 우울증의 징후를 보인다. 칠레 시인 라울 수리따가 삶의 비행을 통해 애도의 조건을 창출하려고 시도하는 반면, 볼라뇨는 죽음의 비행을 영속화시킴으로써 쿠데타의 트라우마를 탈피하지 못하는 모습이다. 다만, 포스트독재 소설 논의가 칠레의 밤의 해석에 적합한 논지를 제공함에도 불구하고, 이 글은 이를 포스트독재 소설로 분류하려는 것은 아니다. 볼라뇨의 트라우마가 라틴아메리카 혁명의 시대에 대한 환멸에서 기원하기 때문이다. 그래서 이 논문은 칠레의 밤을 포스트혁명 소설로 독해할 것을 제안한다.
