영상(影像)에 나타난 기호학적 특성에 관한 연구 = A Study of Semiotic Characteristics in a Film-Image

국문 초록 (Abstract)

모든 것이 영상화 되는 현상에 대해 그동안 Text 내에서의 단일한 이성(理性) 구조만을 연구했던 인문학자들 간에 이것을 어떻게 받아들여야 하는가에 대해 많은 고민을 해 왔다. 특히 기호학자들의 이러한 연구는 오래동안 지속되어 왔는데, 움베르토 에코(Umberto Eco)를 비롯하여 소쉬르(Saussure), 퍼스(peirce) 등의 학자들의 논의들은 특히 주목할 만 하다. 에코는 중세미학에서 현대 기호학에 이르는 그의 철학적 관심을 기반으로 관습으로부터의 일탈의 측면에서 영상 매체를 본격적으로 연구하였다.소쉬르는 이분법적 기호학, 예컨대 기표/기의, 형태/본질을 중심으로 기호학의 특성을 설명하고 있으며, 퍼스의 삼분법적 기호학 (기호를 기호 sign, 대상 referent, 해석체 interpretant의 삼각 체계로 설명하는 이론)은 기호에 시간을 도입할 수 있는 가능성을 열어 주었다. 본 논문에서는 가능한 한 영상에 대한 체계적이고, 합리적이며, 논리적인 접근과 분석의 노력으로 영상 이미지를 기호학적 체계에서 분석하려고 시도한다. 필름(film)을 통해 보여지는 영상들에 대해 그저 문학적이고 인상주의적인 가치판단에 의존하는 것이 아니라, 관객을 흡입하는 영상물들의 불가해한 힘을 체계적인 기호로 분석하고자 한다. 기호학의 도래로, 상징적인 것과 사회적 맥락을 연계시키는 일이 가능해졌기 때문이다. 영상을 단순한 미학적 예술이 아닌 사회 관습과 제도로 받아들여 인간과 세계를 옳바르게 이해하는데 일조하고 영상의 신비화를 지양하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

About the phenomenon of being imaged of everything, the scholars of the humanities who had studied on the simple reason structure in a text has been in a big agony how accept it. Especially, semiologists have studied about this for a long time and the points at issues of Saussure, Peirce as well as Umbeto Eco are more outstanding. Being based upon his philosophic interesting from medieval esthetics to modern semiotics, Eco intensively studied the film-media, regarding it as a deviation from the custom.Saussure is a representative figure of semiotics and explained Sign and the character of semiotics as the division into two parts such as signifier/ signified, form/ substance, langue/ parole, synchrony/ diachrony.The triadic semiotics ( the theory that Sign is composed of the triadic structure like sign, referent and interpretant) of Peirce put the new item-'interpretant' in sign and opened the possibility to introduce time in to the Sign.In this paper, I try to analyze the film-image in the semiotic structure with the systemic, reasonable and logical approach and analysis as as possible. While the images shown through a film were depended on the romantic and impressional judge, due to semiotics, it's quite possible to correlate the procedure of symbolization to social coherence so that analyze the incredible power of images to suck audiences with the systemetic Sign. I accept the film-image as not the simple esthetic arts but a social custom and system, want to serve as a aid to properly understand world and humanbeings and prevent the film-image from being mystic.
