강화학파 연구의 현황과 과제 = Current Situation and Tasks of the Research on Gang-hwa School

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1970년대부터 강화학파에 관한 연구가 시작되어 지난 55년간 저서, 역서, 학위논문, 학술논문 등 많은 연구 성과가 나왔다. 2024년 전반기까지 강화학파와 관련한 연구 성과는 저서 20종, 원전 번역서 7종, 2차 문헌 번역서 1종, 박사학위논문 21편, 석사학위논문 51편, 학술논문 285편으로, 총 385종에 달한다. 2000년대 초반까지는 강화학파 연구의 토대를 마련한 시기라면, 2000년대 중반부터는 강화학파 연구의 본격적인 시기라고 할 수 있다. 강화학파 관련 연구성과물들을 수집ㆍ정리하고 이에 대한 체계적인 분석과 평가가 이루어질 때, 강화학파 연구의 현재를 제대로 진단하고 미래를 올바르게 전망할 수 있을 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 강화학파 관련 연구성과물들을 수집ㆍ분석한 후에 ｢강화학파 연구 문헌 목록｣을 작성하고 주요한 연구성과물을 중심으로 강화화파 연구의 현황을 진단하고 앞으로 해결해야 할 과제를 밝혀나감으로써 강화학파 연구는 물론 한국양명학 연구가 한 단계 더 도약할 수 있는 계기를 마련하고자 하였다.
먼저 II장에서는 총론에 해당하는 강화학파 일반에 관한 연구성과를 저서, 박사학위논문, 학술논문으로 나누어 분석하였다. 그리고 각론에 해당하는 III장에서는 초기강화학파 인물 가운데 윤순, 심육, 이광신, 이광명, 이광사, 이광려의 연구성과에 대해 분석하고, IV에서는 중기강화학파 인물 가운데 신대우, 이긍익, 이영익, 이충익, 정동유, 유희, 신작의 연구성과를 분석하고, V장에서는 후기강화학파 인물 가운데 이건승, 이건방의 연구성과를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 강화학파 인물들에 관한 연구성과의 내용과 학술적 의의에 대해 살펴보았다. 이러한 분석을 토대로 VI장에서는 연구성과 분석ㆍ진단 내용을 간략히 정리하고 앞으로의 과제에 대해 이야기하였다.
강화학파 관련 저서, 번역서, 박사학위논문, 석사학위논문, 학술논문에 이르기까지 다양한 유형의 연구성과가 나왔다고 하는 점은 고무적이라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 철학, 문학, 역사, 예술 등에 이르기까지 다양한 학술영역에서 다양한 연구성과가 나왔다는 점은 강화학파의 특성 가운데 하나인 다양성을 드러내 줄 뿐만 아니라 강화학파 관련 균형 잡힌 연구는 물론 강화학파를 전체적으로 조망하는 데 있어 기여하는 바가 크다고 평가된다. 앞으로 해결해야 할 과제로는 먼저 다양한 인물들에 대한 학술논문과 저서를 토대로 하여 강화학파 전체를 조망하는 저서의 출간이 필요하다. 그리고 연구의 확산을 위해서는 강화학파 인물들의 문집 번역이 절실하다. 박사학위논문의 경우 지난 55년 동안의 강화학파 관련 연구성과물을 바탕으로 강화학파 전체를 조망하는 논문과 기존에 다루어지지 않은 강화학파 인물들을 심도 있게 다룬 박사학위논문이 필요하다. 학술논문의 경우 지금까지 다루어지지 않은 인물들에 대한 연구는 물론 학술논문이 있다하더라도 충분히 다루어지지 않은 인물들에 대한 보다 폭넓은 연구가 선행되어야만 한다. 이러한 과제들이 해결될 때 강화학파의 다양성과 특성들이 보다 명확하게 드러날 수 있고, 이를 토대로 강화학파를 전체적으로 조망할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 강화학파 지형도 제작이 가능하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

From 1970 when the research on Gang-hwa school started to now, during 55 years many research results such as books, translations, dissertations, academic papers etc. have been produced. By the first half of 2024, the research results relating to Gang-hwa school have reached 20 books, 7 original translations, 1 second translation, 21 Ph.D theses, 51 Master’s theses, 285 academic papers, i.e. 385 works in total. If the time until the early 2000s is called the period that laid the foundation for the research on Gang-hwa school, then the time since the mid 2000s can be called the legitimate period of the research. When the results of research on Gang-hwa school are gathered and processed and then the analysis and evaluation of them are carried out, the current situation of research on Gang-hwa school can be understood properly and the future of this research can be predicted correctly. Thus in this paper the author tries to collect and analyze research works concerning Gang-hwa school, create a “List of references to Gang-hwa school”, and then, based on major research results, consider the current situation of the research on Gang-hwa school and clarify tasks to be solved in the future, hoping that it will open up an opportunity to take a leap forward in the research on Gang-hwa school as well as Korean Yang-ming studies.
At first, in Part II, equivalent to the general section, the author gathers results of general research on Gang-hwa school into some groups such as published books, PhD. theses and academic papers to analyze. In Part III, the author considers research results on Yoon Sun, Sim Yuk, Lee Gwang Shin, Lee Gwang Myeong, Lee Gwang Sa and Lee Gwang Ryeo, some figures of the early period of Gang-hwa school. Part IV is the analysis of research results on Shin Dae Woo, Lee Geung Ik, Lee Yeong Ik, Lee Chung Ik, Jeong Dong Yoo, Yoo Hee, Shin Jak - figures of the middle period of Gang-hwa school, and Part V is the analysis of research results on figures of the late period of Gang-hwa school such as Lee Geon Seung and Lee Geon Bang. Through those, the contents of research results relating to figures of Gang-hwa school as well as their academic significances can be revealed. Based on those analyses, in Part VI, the author makes a brief summary relating to the contents of analysis and diagnosis of those research results and talk about the tasks in the future.
It can be said that the diversity of research results of Gang-hwa school – including publications, translations, PhD. and Master’s theses, academic papers etc. - is inspiring. And the fact that those research results are carried out in various fields such as philosophy, literature, history, art etc. does not only reveal the diversity as one characteristic of Gang-hwa school, but also is highly evaluated for its contribution to the balanced research relating to Gang-hwa school as well as the panoramic view of it. About the tasks must be fulfilled in the future, first of all it is necessary to have publications on general view of Gang-hwa school based on books and academic papers on its figures. And in order to expand the research, we need to translate anthologies of Gang-hwa school’s figures. As to PhD. theses, based on the research results relating to Gang-hwa school over the past 55 years, we need more PhD. theses on the overall view of Gang-hwa school and other theses delving deeply into its figures that have not been previously studied. As to academic papers, it is necessary to precede more extensive research on figures of Gang-hwa school, including those who have never been studied and who have been studied but not in depth. When those tasks are fulfilled, the diversity and characteristics of Gang-hwa school can be revealed more clearly, and based on it we not only can see Gang-hwa school more comprehensively but also can create the topography of it.
