This study examines the relationship between family factor and delinquency, centering around family bonds. Hirschi`s social control theory emphasizes family bonds. Previous research that has revised Hirschi`s assertion dealing with attachment, commitment, involvement, belief together in same magnititude, emphasize a linear association starting from attachment through belief and ending up to delinquency. Also, it is emphasized that parental deviance and the structure of the family in terms of its composition(broken-unbroken), family SES affect family bonds. This study is constructed on the basis of revised research after Hirschi. To investigate the relationship between family bonds and delinquency, survey was conducted using questionnaires over 1,096 middle and high school students. In this study, parental deviance is significantly related to family bonds. And family bonds(attachment, monitoring) have indirect effects delinquency through belief. The results of this study show that strengthening family is important in inhibiting delinquency.
