We can describe not only various aesthetic forms and inherited traditional forms but also modern forms in the Hand Drawdye Korean traditional costume. So it is securing its position as a wedding celebration dress, an elegant ritual costume, or a sumptuous ceremonial dress.
The Hand Drawdye Korean traditional costume is made by a direct hand drawing on cloth with a brush, so we can easily transform the design on demand and avoid the pitfall, unification by mass production. It is also easy to describe each individualities on forms, and it need few facility expenses on design change compared with the printing and Jakard textile. so we can produce it with various designs in a small amount. I think, it has advantages on competition because this kind of textile design can generate high value added.
Therefore this study on the Hand Drawdye Korean traditional costume contains followings. First, to confirm the generation process and historic circumstances of this costume, we summarized the preexisting pictoral dyeing culture historically. Second, we tried to understand the present production situation and actual circulation condition. Third, we recommended to choose different dyestuffs according to textile kinds, and summarized systematic dyeing techniques. then we suggested a production technique using natural dyestuffs which cause no harm to the nature.
Our purpose of this study lies on wide settlement of the Hand Drawdye Korean traditional costume by establishing the traditional form combined with modern forms and by suggesting the use df natural dyestuffs which do not cause any contamination to the nature.
