타자성의 문제 혹은 자기의식의 변증법 -김남천의 <1945년 8․15>연구- = The problem of otherness or the dialectic of self-consciousness -A study on Kim Nam-cheon’s <August 15th of 1945>-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

김남천의 <1945년 8․15>는 사건(accident)이 없는 소설이다. 칸트는 ｢계몽이란 무엇인가?｣에서 “미성숙 상태에 머물러 있는 것은 매우 쉬운 일이다. …… 너 자신의 지성을 사용할 용기를 가져라!”라고 충고했다. 이는 근대계몽주의 시대의 표어들을 역사적으로 집약하는 것이지만, 아울러 사회적으로 성숙한 인격을 갖춰가는 인간의 성장 과정에도 빗대어 말해질 수 있다. 미성숙 상태란 타율의 원리에 지배되는 정신적 예속 상태를 뜻한다. 아이에서 어른이 된다는 것, 정신적 성숙에 이른다는 것은, 삶과 세계의 주체로서 나름의 ‘자율의 원리’를 더 이상 외부가 아닌 스스로의 내면 속에서 찾고 발견해 나가는 능력과 그 과정이다. 본고는 여성 성장소설의 관점에서, 자기의식이란 헤겔의 변증법적 사유에서 즉자․대자․타자 등의 개념을 토대로, 즉자적 존재로서 현존재가 타자 존재와의 관계 및 인식을 통해 대자적 존재로서 자기의식으로 지양해 나가는 과정과 크게 다르지 않으며, 이 작품의 핵심에 놓여있는 기저부를 설명하는 데 효과적인 논리를 제공할 수 있다고 보았다. 그가 생존했더라면 인물들의 주관적 목소리와 심리묘사가 두드러진, 사건의 충실한 형상화가 결여된 미완의 장편이라는 꼬리표는 붙지 않았을지 모른다. <1945년 8․15>는 작가 김남천의 개인적 역량의 한계가 아니라, 한국 현대사의 역사적 비극이자 한계로 남았다는 것이 비교적 온당한 평가라고 생각된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Kim Nam-cheon’s <The August 15th of 1945> is a novel without an incident. Kant advised in ｢What is enlightenment?｣, “It is so easy to remain immature. Have the courage to use your own reason!” This is a historical concentration of the keywords of the modern enlightenment era, but it can also be compared to the process of human growth with a socially mature personality. Immature state refers to a state of mental subordination governed by the principle of batting average. To become an adult from a child is an ability and process to find and discover one's own ‘principles of autonomy’ within oneself, no longer outside, and to reach mental maturity as the subject of life and the world. From the perspective of women’s growth novel, this paper is based on Hegel’s dialectical thinking of self-consciousness, that is, self-consciousness, based on the concept of self-reliance, big Other, and others, and it is not much different from the process of avoiding the presence as self-conscious as a big Other through relationship and recognition with the other being, and it can provide an effective logic in explaining the basis of this work. If he had survived, he might not have been labeled as an unfinished feature that lacked a faithful representation of the event, with the subjective voices and psychological descriptions of the characters prominent. I think it is a relatively reasonable evaluation that <the August 15th of 1945> remained a historical tragedy and limitation of Korean modern history, not a limitation of writer Kim Nam-cheon’s personal capabilities.
