본 논문은 바실리 칸딘스키의 예술 이론과 회화 작품에 나타난 삼원색을 연구하여 칸딘스키의 삼원색이 추상 예술에서 가지는 정신적 표상의 독특한 의미를 고찰하는 것을 목표로 한다. 그는 창작 과정에서 색채, 형태, 구성을 혁신적으로 활용하여 깊은 정신적 의미를 표현했다. 특히 삼원색의 사용은 단순한 시각적 충격을 넘어 상징적 의미를 지니며, 색채의 정신성에 대한 그의 이해를 잘 보여준다. 칸딘스키는 현대 추상 예술의 실천과 이론을 확립한 선구자로서, 그의 예술 철학은 저서『예술에서의 정신적인 것에 대하여』에 잘 반영되어 있다. 그는 색채가 물질적인 차원을 초월하는 정신적 의미를 지니고 있으며, 하나의 에너지로 작용하여 관객의 감정을 불러일으키고 더 깊은 영적 체험을 유도한다고 보았다. 그의 대표작에서는 정교한 색채 조합과 형태 구성을 통해 기존의 시각적 인식 방식을 깨뜨리며, 궁극적으로 정신적인 예술 표현을 추구했다. 삼원색은 색채 체계에서 가장 기본적이고 순수한 색으로, 칸딘스키의 추상 회화에서 중요한 역할을 하며 독특한 표현력과 내재적 가치를 갖는다. 칸딘스키는 삼원색의 교차와 충돌을 통해 색채와 정신 사이의 깊은 연결을 창조했다. 본 논문에서는 칸딘스키가 추상 예술에서 색채를 이해하는 방식을 분석하고, 칸딘스키의 예술이론과 작품을 연구하였다. 그가 삼원색을 통해 전달하고자 한 감정 세계와 정신적 탐구를 탐색하며, 삼원색이 그의 창작에서 얼마나 중요한 의미를 갖고 있었는지를 밝힌다. 또한 이를 통해 현대 추상 예술의 형성과 발전에 제공한 중요한 이론적 토대와 실천적 의의를 고찰한다.

This paper aims to study Wassily Kandinsky’s artistic theories and the use of primary colors in his paintings, examining their unique significance in the spiritual expression of abstract art. In his creative process, Kandinsky innovatively employed color, shape, and form to express profound spiritual meaning. In particular, his use of primary colors not only creates a strong visual impact but also carries symbolic significance, reflecting his deep understanding of the spiritual nature of color. Kandinsky was a pioneer in both the practice and theory of modern abstract art. His theoretical work, Concerning the Spiritual in Art, effectively encapsulates his artistic philosophy. He believed that color transcends the material world, possessing a spiritual essence that acts as an energy capable of evoking emotional responses in viewers and stimulating deeper spiritual experiences. In his masterpieces, Kandinsky skillfully combined colors and forms to break away from traditional modes of visual perception, ultimately striving for a spiritual form of artistic expression. As the most fundamental and purest hues in the color system, primary colors hold a significant place in his abstract paintings, characterized by their unique expressive power and intrinsic value. Through the interaction and juxtaposition of primary colors, Kandinsky created a profound connection between color and spirituality. By analyzing Kandinsky’s understanding of color in abstract art, this paper explores his artistic theories and works, examines the emotional world and spiritual exploration conveyed through the three primary colors, and reveals their important role and far-reaching significance in his artistic creation. This study provides a valuable theoretical foundation and practical insights for the formation and development of modern abstract art.
