미술영재 진로교육 방안 모색을 위한 기초 연구 = A Basic Research on Career Education for the Gifted in Visual Arts

This research has been conducted as a basic research to explore the direction for career education for the gifted in visual arts. Interests in career education increases nationally but there is an almost complete lack of research on career education for the gifted in visual arts. The gifted tend to achieve high career maturity comparing to other kids their age and they experience the difficulties to decide their career because of their versatile talents. In this study, we analyzed literature to explain the necessity of career education for the gifted and investigated the career education programs for the gifted. Then we did survey to understand the current situation of career education for the gifted in visual arts.
Gifted resource teachers realized the importance of the career education but there were differences in perceptions on career education depending on level of school.
On analysis of the in-depth interviews of gifted resource teachers, we found that teachers considered self knowledge, understanding of careers related to visual arts, and career planing as contents of career education. And for career education method they preferred work study and special lecture of professionals. Teachers answered that they had difficulties in a deeper understanding of the gifted, searching information on careers related visual arts, and contacting with professionals in arts. Career education for the gifted in visual arts needs to be differentiated based on clear understanding of career education, holistic approaches, and foundational artistic competencies.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 미술영재를 위한 진로교육 방안 모색을 위한 기초 연구로서 실시되었다. 진로교육에 대한 국가적 차원의 관심이 높은 반면, 미술영재 진로 교육에 대한 연구는 부재한 상황이 다. 영재는 일반 아동에 비해 진로 성숙도가 높으며, 다재다능하여 진로결정에 어려움을 겪는 다. 이에 본 연구에서는 선행연구 분석을 통해 영재 진로교육의 필요성과 프로그램 사례를 살펴보고, 미술영재 진로교육의 현황 파악을 위해 미술영재 교육 기관 대상 진로교육 실태를 조사하였다. 그 결과 담당 교사들은 진로교육의 필요성에 대해서는 인식하고 있으나, 학교 급에 따라 진로교육에 대한 인식의 차이가 존재하며, 교육 자료의 부족, 전문가 섭외의 어려움, 시수의 부족 등으로 인해 진로교육을 제대로 수행하지 못 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 학교급에 따라, 교사별로 진로교육에 대한 이해의 차이가 큰 것으로 나타났다.
미술영재 담당 교사들을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행한 결과, 교사들은 미술영재들의 자기적성탐색, 미술관련 직업군에 대한 이해 및 진로 계획 세우기 등을 진로교육의 주요한 내용으로 언급하였다. 진로교육 방법으로는 직업 체험과 특강을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 운영에 있어서는 영재 지도 교사로서 학생들에 대한 심층적인 이해의 어려움, 진로 관련 정보의 부족, 전문가 섭외 등에서 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 인터넷 강의, 지역연계 프로젝트, 자기성 찰을 위한 시간 등이 보완되어야 한다고 답하였다.. 따라서 미술영재 진로교육은 학교급에 따라 차별화할 필요가 있으며, 진로교육에 대한 명확한 이해를 위한 노력 및 총체적 접근, 예술적 역량 함양을 위한 충실한 기본 교육을 전제로 해야 한다.
