      Objectives:Recently, there is an increasing trend of attachment to physical appearance of individuals in many
      persons with spread of social concern through mass communication. Domestically, several studies has been per-
      formed, but they were limited to obesity mainly for juveniles. Therefore, purpose of this study were to measure
      physical dissatisfaction with college students in Cheonnan area and to examine correlation body image dissatis-
      faction levels between family system, depression, and self-esteem. Method:This study is to examine relation be-
      tween body image dissatisfaction and family system type, depression, self-esteem. Respondents of main study were
      total 825 college students in Cheonan area. The questionaries were categorized into five part:1) sociodemographic
      variants 2) temporary Korean version of BDDE-SR 3) Korean Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation
      Scale 4) Korean Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale 5) Korean Self-rating Depression scale. SPSS win 11.0 has been
      run to analyze the outcome mainly using multiple regression. Results:The variable that gives the largest influ-
      ence on the level of body image dissatisfaction was self-esteem. And sex, depression, BMI ratio, and family cohe-
      sion were also found to exert influence. In case of male college students, the variables that exert influence on body
      image dissatisfaction level were in the order of self-esteem, depression, and BMI ratio; in case of female college
      students, in the order of self-esteem and family cohesion. The most dissatisfactory parts of body for male college
      students were waist-abdomen, teeth, whole face, eyes and head hair in order, and for female college students, they
      were thighs, calves, waist-abdomen, shape of body, and upper arms in order. Also, for both of sex, they were waist-
      abdomen, thighs, calves, teeth, and shape of body in order. Methods used to change their dissatisfactory parts were
      plastic surgery, cosmetics, and medicine, and their rates were significantly high for female. Conclusion:The fac-
      tor that exerts the large influences on the level of body image dissatisfaction of college students was found to be
      self-esteem in both male or female subjects. In addition, it is considered that body image dissatisfaction is most
      largely influenced by individual psychologic factor and family system.
