It is reported that flexural strength of lightweight concrete beams is simillar to that of normal weight concrete beams, but shear strength is not. The shear characteristics of lightweight concrete beams are low shear strength and sudden failure of concrete. To evaluate the shear strength of lightweight concrete beams, it is needed to investigate the effects of amin parameters on shear strength of beams.
In this paper, main objective is to study shear strength of lightweight concrete beams, especially the relationships of shear strength and shear span to depth ratio, longitudinal reinforcement ratio. To achieve the relationships of parameters and shear strength of lightweight concrete beams, 6 specimens were tested.
The result of this study indicate that shear strength of lightweight concrete beams are3 largely depended on shear span to depth ratio and longitudinal reinforcement ratio.
