중국 사신의 조선죽지사에 담긴 조선 인식- 동월(董越)ㆍ서진(徐振)ㆍ백준(柏葰)의 작품을 중심으로- = A Study on the Perception of Choseon in the Works of Chinese Ambassadors- Focusing on the works of Dong-wol, Seo-Chin, Baek-Chun-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

조선에 왔던 중국 사신의 조선 관련 기록을 통해 조선 인식의 일단을 살펴보았다. 동월은 1488년, 서진은 18세기 중엽, 백준은 1844년 각각 조선에 사신으로 왔다 갔는데, 이때 조선 관련 작품을 남긴 바 있다.
이들은 모두 중국의 역사 속에서 조선의 역사를 인식하고 있었다. 기자나 소정방, 서불은 조선의 역사이면서도 중국의 역사가 된다. 특히 기자를 전면에 내세워 조선에 끼친 중국의 영향을 지속적으로 상기시켰다. 또한 백준은 기자에서 벗어나 중국의 영향과 관련된 다양한 조선의 역사를 상기시켜, 조선의 역사에 끼친 중국의 영향을 확대 강화했다. 이는 조선의 역사를 중국 역사의 일부분으로 간주한 것으로, 현 조선 역시 중국 역사의 일부분이 될 수밖에 없다는 인식이 그대로 반영된 것이다.
다음으로 당대 조선의 정세에 대해 언급한 부분이다. 세 사신 모두 조선이 교화에 무젖었고 예악과 풍류로 다스려지는 나라라고 인식했다. 그러나 이러한 태평이 조선만의 노력이 아닌 중국의 지대한 영향이 있었기에 가능했다는 논지를 내세웠다. 중국이 나라 세울 것을 허락한 일이나 청 태종의 일을 언급한 것이 바로 현 조선에 대한 중국의 영향이 지대했음을 시사한 대목이다.
동월과 서진 및 백준의 조선 풍속 관련 작품에 대해서는 꼼꼼한 검토가 필요하다. 본고에서는 남녀가 함께 목욕하는 일이나 자유연애, 시첩(妻妾)을 서로 빼앗는 풍속, 감옥 같은 초가집 등 이들이 본 부정적인 부분에 초점을 맞추었다. 서진의 작품에 대해서는 김윤식이 꼼꼼히 변증하여, 어느 정도 오인의 실상이 밝혀졌다. 하지만 밝혀진 실상이라는 것이 조선에서만 유효한 것이지, 결코 중국인의 전통적인 조선 인식을 바로잡지는 못했을 것이다. 동월이 언급한 남녀가 함께 목욕하는 일에 대해서는 이미 송(宋)나라 때부터 중국에 전해진 조선 풍속이다. 동월은 스스로 자신이 사신 왔을 때에는 이미 이런 풍속이 사라졌다고 했지만, 이는 어디까지나 개인적인 차원에서의 언급이다. 백준의 조선 풍속에 대한 부정적인 시선 또한 중국의 전통적인 조선 인식으로 연결될 수 있는 개연성이 농후하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

I considered a part that chinese envoy understandings of the Chosun through their report about Chosun. Dong-wol came in 1488, Seo-Chin came in the mid-eighteenth century, Baek-Chun came in 1844. Each of they became envoys in Chosun.
Recognition about history of Chosun looked at Chosun in chinese history. GiCha or SoChongbang, Seobul were history of Chosun and chinese history. Specially, they were continuously recollected chinese influence caused in Chosun about claim in front of giCha. They were regard a part of chinese history as history of Cheoseon. and the present Cheoseon also have effect on recognition as it was that one part of Chinese history.
And than, I referred a part about those days the situation of Chosun. Three envoys were good hand at enlightenment of Chosun. and they have cognizance of arranged nation from courtesy, music and refinement. But, such tranquility was urged logic that not only an effort of Choseon but also greatly influence of China within the limits of the possibility. This was displayed heavy Chinese influence which China was admitted that established the nation or It was mentioned an event who TaeChong of Qing.
I thought that be necessary careful examination about a related works of Choseon customs who written Dong-wol and Seo-Chin and Baek-Chun. At this study, This was focused on that they observe negative part which bathing with man and woman or free love, customs that take one’s wife and concubine, monopolization of a ginseng and a thatched cottage like a prison. About Seo-Chin`s works, Kim-yunsik demonstrated closely. So, He was made clear some actual circumstances of misconception. But, It was come clear a real condition that an effective things at Choseon, that was by no means corrected Chinese traditional Choseon cognition. About Dong-wol refered to bathed with man and woman, It was Choseon customs that previously introduced China from Song. When Dong-wol personally came to Choseon by an envoy, he said already such customs evaporated. But, He made reference to a private dimension by what time. Baek-Chun had negative his gaze about customs of Choseon. Moreover it was thick probability by Chinese traditional Choseon cognition.
