최승자 초기 시의 죽음의식 연구―『이 시대의 사랑』을 중심으로 = A Study on the Death Consciousness in Early Poems by Choi Seung-ja - Focusing on "Love in This Age"

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고에서는 최승자 첫 시집 『이 시대의 사랑』에 나타나는 죽음의식을 살펴보고자 한다. 폭력적인 시대라는 외부 구조가 가하는 억압이 내면화되며 최승자의 시적 주체는 죽음을 운명으로 인식하게 된다. 삶에 대한 부정으로 죽음을 갈망하던 시적 주체는 죽음이라는 운명이 수행되지 않음을 깨닫게 된다. 폭압의 시대 속에서 실제적 죽음이 아니라 상징적 죽음을 맞이하게 된 최승자의 시적 주체는 두 죽음 사이에 놓이게 되고, 난처한 삶이 지속되면서 삶의 부정으로서의 죽음까지 부정된 시적 주체는 죽음보다 못한 상태에 놓이게 된다. 이런 맥락에서 최승자의 죽음의식이 단순히 삶의 부정이나 삶을 긍정하기 위한 방법적 태도로만 단정 지을 수 없으며, 필멸을 향한 몸짓이 시적 주체를 불멸로 나아가게 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 프로이트가 말한 유기체가 비유기체의 상태로 나아가기를 바라는 죽음본능보다는 죽지 않는 영원한 삶을 향해 가는 라캉의 죽음충동과 맞닿아 있다. 본고는 최승자의 시적 주체가 극복해야 할 것은 죽음이 아니라 삶이라는 점에 주목해 죽음의식을 살핌으로써 최승자의 시 세계를 통과하고 있는 죽음의식에 대한 해석의 단초를 발견할 수 있으리라 기대한다.

In this study, we would like to examine the death consciousness that appears in Choi Seung-ja's first poetry collection, "Love in This Age". The oppression exerted by the external structure of the violent era is internalized, and Choi Seung-ja's poetic subject recognizes death as fate. The poetic subject, who longed for death due to denial of life, realizes that the destiny of death cannot be fulfilled. In the era of oppression, Choi Seung-ja's poetic subject, who faced a symbolic death rather than an actual death, is placed between the two deaths, and as the embarrassing life continues, the poetic subject that even the death as a denial of life is denied is placed in a state worse than death. In this context, it can be seen that Choi Seung-ja's consciousness of death cannot be concluded simply by denial of life or a methodical attitude to affirm life, and that the gesture toward annihilation is driving the poetic subject to immortality. This is in line with Lacan's Death Drive toward an eternal life that does not die, rather than Freud's Death Instinct that wants organisms to progress to a non-organic state. This study focuses on the fact that what Seungja Choi's poetic subject must overcome is life, not death, and hopes to discover a clue to the interpretation of the consciousness of death that passes through Seungja Choi's poetic world by examining death consciousness.
