This article deals with how South Korea, at the initial stage of war, and the United Sates, during the subsequent period up to 1951, tried to cope with the huge supply-demand for conducting the fighting. This paper is composed of three parts : South Korean logistical supply before and immediately after the Korean War broke out ; American logistical supply after the United States committed itself to the fighting ; and some evaluations on each of these activities. At first, it surveys the logistical circumstances of the newly born South Korean Army before the War, With a special emphasis on its incapability to cope with any crisis. It also probes American logistical support after its involvement in the combat action, and tries to draw some lessons out of these situations and activities. However, this paper confines its scope of analysis on the issue of logistical supports, including weapons supply, engineer, communication and transportation support, during the first two years of fighting, 1950-1951. This paper will conclude that a war, small or large in scale, can not be waged with man-power alone, In order to win the war, logistical capability with its efficient distribution system should be well required.
