Game industry, which has been rapidly developed as one of areas of cultural content industries, is leading the growth of content industry as a whole, due to its far-reaching effect and influence on other areas of content industry.Even if domestic game industry began to form the market since 1980s, foreign games led the market by 1992. However, its growth rate has been enormously increased along with the appearance of domestic games since 1992 and the spread of internet since 1995. Lately, easy access to internet made the growth rate of online-game industry leap in comparison to that of arcade game, which led the growth of game industry so far. At this technological turning point where online games have been replacing platform, existing major player in the arena of game industry, it is necessary to find more practical and constructive model in order to improve the weakness and increase international competitiveness of online game industry.This study is to examine the trend and prospect of online game industry as well as present situations of game industry as a whole and analyze the system and behavior in order to suggest possible growth prospect of domestic online game industry, which is rapidly growing.Besides, it is expected that this study will help find the proper business model for online game industry through suggesting problems of online game industry, which is leading domestic game industry and possible alternatives to those problems as well.
