루만의 체계이론과 실학의 합리성

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 기능적 분화를 넘어 배타분화 되고 있는 ‘지식사회’에서 전통적 합리성의 보고라 할 수 있는 실학의 합리성이 다시 새로운 지식의 대안으로 부상하고 있다. 그러나 실학의 합리성 개념이 아직 보편적인 커뮤니케이션체계에 편입될 수 있는 수준에는 이르지 못하고 있다. 루만의 체계이론은 보편적 ‘커뮤니케이션체계’에 대한 이론적 장치로서 체계합리성을 개념화하고 있다. 체계합리성을 준거로 실학의 합리성을 개념화할 수는 없을까? 특히 이러한 발상에 있어서 체계합리성은 외율준거가 될 수 있다. 하나의 체계는 조작적으로 환경에서 배제되고 자연을 관찰하면서 환경에 포함된다. 재귀준거와 외율준거의 차이로서 환경에 대한 차이는 체계고유의 관찰에 기초가 된다. 체계는 배타분화를 통하여 환경에서 일어나는 것과의 관계에서 전적으로 무관심하다. 그러나 이러한 무관심은 체계 자체의 복합성을 증축하기 위한 방패처럼 사용된다. 이러한 복합성은 체계내부에서 정보의 형식으로 자연을 감지할 수 있는 한 환경에 의한 자극에 대해 아주 민감할 수 있는 것이다. 합리성은 체계와 체계 내 환경과 차이의 일관성을 성찰할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 체계합리성이 ‘자동생산성’을 유지하기 위해서는 ‘대칭의 무너짐’을 필요로 한다. 바로 이러한 비대칭성에서 합리성을 관찰하기 위해서 중요한 것은 확실성에 대한 잠재력이 아니라 불확실성에 대한 잠재력인 것이다. 그리고 의존이 아니라 자유가 중요하며, 어디에서도 발견되지 않는 자유의지의 장소와 상상력이 중요한 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Today, the rationality of Sirhak, which was regarded as a treasure-house of the traditional rationality in the knowledge society that shifted from a functional differentiation to an ex-differentiation, began to rise again as an alternative source for the new knowledge. However, the concept of rationality hasn't yet reached the level where it can be incorporated into the universal communication system. Luhmann`s System Theory, as theoretical tools conceptualized the systems rationality about the universal communication system. In lieu of the systems rationality can the rationality of silhak be conceptualized? Especially, in terms of this inspiration, systems rationality can be an external reference. One system is excluded from the environment technically and included in the environment by observing the environment. These different perspectives on the environment form the foundation of the system observation as a different standard of reflexive- and external references. System itself is completely indifferent to the relationship with what is occurring in the environment through ex-differentiation, however, the indifference is used as a shield to increase the complexity of the system.
The complexity would be very sensitive to the environmental stimuli as long as it can perceive the environment as a form of information in the internal system. Rationality means that the consistency of differences between the system and the environment of the system should be maintained. The 'break in symmetry' is needed for this system rationality to maintain the 'autopoiesis'. What is asked is not the potential for the certainty but the uncertainty to find a rationality in the asymmetry. It is the importance of freedom rather than dependency. What is really needed is undiscovered free will and imagination.
