이질형 분산 데이타베이스 시스템에서 전역 동시성 제어 기법의 성능 평가 = Performance Evaluation of Global Concurrency Control Schemes in Heterogeneous Distributed Database Systems

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이질형 분산 데이타베이스 시스템에서 여러 가지 전역 동시성 제어 기법들이 제안되었지만, 각 기법들의 성능을 체계적으로 비교한 연구는 극히 드물다. 본 논문에서는 분산 데이타베이스 모의 실험 모형을 개발하여 전역 동시성 제어 기법들의 성능을 평가한다. 이를 위해, 우선 전역 동시성 제어 기법들을 지역 자치성을 완전히 지원하는 기법들과 부분적으로 위반한 기법들로 분류한다. 그리고, 각 기법들에서 지원하는 동시성 정도와 지역 자치성의 수용 정도를 고려하여 성능을 평가한다. 뿐만 아니라, 교착상태 해결 방식에 따른 각 동시성 제어 기법의 성능을 평가하며, 자치성의 수용 정도와 연계하여 그 의미를 분석하도록 한다. 본 논문에서 제시한 실험 결과들을 이용함으로써 주어진 이질 환경 하에서 가장 적절한 전역 동시성 제어 기법을 선택하는 것이 가능하다.

Although many global concurrency control schemes have been proposed in heterogeneous distributed database systems, a thorough understanding of their actual performance is lacking. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the global concurrency control schemes using a distributed database simulation model. We first classify the global concurrency control schemes into two groups: those that preserve local autonomy perfectly and those that do not. Then we evaluate the performance of each group on the basis of the degree of concurrency and the degree of preserving local autonomy. Furthermore, we also evaluate the performance of the concurrency control schemes with regard to the deadlock resolution methods, and analyze its meaning on the basis of the degree of preserving local autonomy. The simulation results of this study make it possible to select the most appropriate global concurrency control scheme for a given heterogeneous environment.
