The area of Mt. Ungil in which the experiment forest of Dongguk University is situated has abundant rainfall as well as proper amount of moisture and humidity due to the nearby flowing Han River and Jin-joong Cheon. This climatic and geographic factors provide the forest with an ideal condition for tree-growing, which has resulted in the growth of a variety of trees in that area. Since the Kwang-joo mountains stretch toward north-east, the school forest is well connected with the surrounding forests, and thus various wild trees and plants are evenly distributed in the area. The range of plants living in the area was surveyed from summer to autumn of 1983, and it was found that is consists of 64 families, 259 genera, 397 species, 60 varieties and 3 kinds.
