Logos와 theos -스토아 학파와 알렉산드리아의 필론을 중심으로- = Logos and theos-as regards the Stoics and Philo of Alexandria

This article tries to explain how Philo of Alexandria understood the tradition of the classical Greek philosophy and how he harmonized it with the judaism. To this purpose, we will analyze Philo`s view of logos in comparison with the logos according to the Stoicism. First, we will explain the meanings of logos in the Stoic philosophy. With this, we will show that Stoic logos is the natural and theoretical foundation of the logic, the physics and the ethics. Next, analyzing various meanings of the logos of Philo, we will clarify what is new in Philo`s theory of logos in comparison with the Stoic philosophy. Especially, we will see how Philo re-interprets the Stoic distinction between logos prophorikos and logos endiathetos. We hope we can lay the foundation for a study of how the ancient Greek philosophy interacted with the judaism of first century AD. and how the tradition of Greek philosophy had impact on the Christianity.
