청소년 사이버 멘토링 프로그램 참여 과정에 대한 멘토의 경험과 의미 탐색: 한 대기업의 사회공헌 프로그램을 중심으로 = A Study on Experiences and Meanings of Mentors Participating in a Youth Cyber Mentoring Program: A Case of a Korean Conglomerate's Social Contribution Program

This study aimed to explore the meanings and additional effects that mentors earned through their participation in a youth mentoring program operated by a conglomerate in Korea. In-depth interviews were conducted with 10 mentor-mentee couples as a main method of collecting data. While participating in the mentoring program, mentors were experiencing additional effects beyond having simple experiences of volunteer activity participation and sharing of time and energy with mentees. Main results were as follows. Mentors came to open their eyes on children and youth who they did not know well before. They came to reflect their lives while they were writing on-line letters to mentees. They got positive influences on their jobs. They released their stress and got refreshments. They made networks with other mentors who worked within the same conglomerate. Also, some mentors with children got helps from their mentees while they tried to understand their own children and developed ideas on future family relations and child rearing. While previous studies mainly focused on changes and effects of mentees, this study attempted to introduce meanings and effects of mentoring participation that mentors came to develop. By doing so, this study implied to contribute on increase of conglomerate's participation in youth mentoring program and further interaction between youth and adults.
