A successful educational reform and the effective construction of school organizations are possible through the understanding of school organizational conflict. This study is to compare and analyze the level of conflict and conflict management styles in Korean and American school organizations. The study used the conflict resolutions styles instrument developed by Caldwell & Hajzus considering the characteristics of Korean school organizations. The sample for the study was 630 teachers working at Daegu. Ulsan. and Kyungpook in Korea. These teachers were sampled using stratified random sampling which considered the school level, location, and year of teacher career. The study shows Korean teachers have lower level of conflict than do American teachers in educational activities in school organizations. The study also suggests that collaborative conflict management style seems more effective strategy for solving the conflict than that of avoiding or forcing ;n both American and Korean school organizations.
