There have been several intensive studies on the songs of the Korean composer Lee Sang Geun(1922-2000). The two main questions of the studies were (1) how modem his composition techniques were and (2) which influence the traditional Korean music had upon his works. In this article, I want to add another question: which stylistic development process Lee Sang Geun`s Songs experienced. The question can be paraphrased as following: which musical methods, which textural material and subject, and which composition techniques were used each time when he composed them. In addition, the way how the accompanied instrument were utilized to bear the meaning of texts will be explored. Before going into such questions, Lee Sang Geun`s Songs will be generally introduced. To clarify the development process, the works will be divided and compared according to their created time. Only the two songs, ``The See`` and ``The Three Pictures,`` will be excluded from the temporal observation, because they can be classified as a genre which doesn`t belong to the category of ``art song``.
