요한계시록에 나타난 천사의 역할 = The Function of Angels in the Book of Revelation.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is aimed at searching the roles of angels in the book of Revelation. A distinguished feature of Christian apocalyptic literature and the Jewish (apocalyptic) literature in the later Second Temple period is that human beings needed the mediator due to God’s transcendency. In the book of Revelation and the Jewish (apocalyptic) literature, the mediatorial function was usually done by angels. In order to investigate the roles of the angels in the Apocalypse of John, firstly the roles of angels in the Old Testament is studied. Then, research of angels’ roles in the Jewish apocalyptic literature in the period of the later second Temple and the New Testament is done as a background knowledge. Finally, the angels in the book of Revelation who do multivalent functions and their identities are scrutinized. Through this study, the angelomorphic Christology and the angels’ role of relief emphasizing the person and works of the exalted Christ are manifested in the book of Revelation.
