직접경제가 지역-산업 고용성장에 미친 영향 : System GMM 추정방법의 활용

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objective of this study is two-fold. First, we investigate effects of agglomeration economy on local employment growth. Second, we analyze the long- and short-run effects of key explanatory variables on local employment growth. By processing the panel data for six metropolitan and nine provincial areas over 1994~2006, we estimate a dynamic panel specification as a local-industry employment growth model by using system GMM method. As a result, specialization has a significantly positive effect on employment growth in most industries and this positive effect is more noticeable in manufacturing industries. Even the long-run effect of diversity on employment growth is not uniform over all industries, we find a positive effect of diversity on manufacturing industry's employment in the long run. In service industries, the short-run effect of diversity is estimated to have more impact on employment growth. Additionally, a negative effect of the proportion of small firm in that region is found and internal economies of scale has a significant effect on local employment growth.
