기쁨의 신학적 서사에 대한 소고 = An Investigation into the Theological Narratives of Joy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article is an investigation into a theology of joy and the renewal of Christian narratives against the backdrop of the eclipse of joy in the contemporary world. Posing the questions of where one can find the locus of the root of the faith of joy and how one can cultivate joy, which is a cornerstone of Christian faith, the author argues to ground theologically the faith of joy into the biblical and theological narrative.
Biblical narratives may be regarded as the matrix to understand Christian joy. The author attempts to explicate the nature of the joy of the earliest Christian community displayed in the narratives of the Resurrection, the Pentecost, and the new-creation to reflect the theology of joy, while paying attention to the biblical narratives. In addition, the author examines theological reflections on joy suggested in three paradigmatic contemporary theological narratives.
It is never desirable for the future of life to reduce a grand narrative of life to scientific-technological narratives. Therefore, contemporary Christian theologies might have to enhance an imagination to create more relevant theological narratives, thereby to develop the height, depth, and width of their ontological meanings without losing the vitality of life which the biblical and theological narrative deliver. Furthermore, contemporary Christians should bear witness to and practice the Gospel of the Kingdom of God by creating Christian narratives in terms of conversing with variegated contemporary secular narratives.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

필자는 본 연구에서 기쁨을 상실한 오늘날의 지구촌 현실을 배경으로 삼고 기쁨의 신학과 기독교 서사의 갱신에 대해 고찰한다. 기독교 신앙의 초석이라 할 수 있는 기쁨의 신앙적 뿌리를 어디에서 발견하고 또 어떻게 기쁨을 배양해야 할지를 질문하면서, 필자는 기쁨의 신앙과 신학의 근거를 성서와 신학의 핵심적인 서사들에 정초해야 한다고 주장한다.
성서의 서사들은 그리스도인의 기쁨을 이해하기 위한 심오한 모체라고 할 수 있다. 필자는 기쁨의 신학에 대해 숙고하기 위해서 성서의 서사들에 주목하면서도 특별히 신약성서의 부활절, 오순절, 그리고 바울의 새 창조 서사에 나타나는 초기 그리스도인 공동체들의 기쁨의 성격을 해명한다. 아울러 성서의 서사를 모체로 하고 신학적인 해석을 통해 발전시킨 현대의 세 가지의 신학적 서사들을 범례로 선택하여 그 가운데 기쁨에 대한 신학적 성찰이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 고찰한다.
생명의 대서사를 과학의 담론으로 축소하는 것은 생명의 미래를 위해서 결코 바람직하지 않다. 그러므로 오늘날 기독교 신학자들은 성서의 서사들과 후대의 신학의 서사들이 담아내는 기쁨의 생명력을 잃지 않고 그 서사들의 존재론적 의미의 높이와 깊이와 너비를 계승하고 더욱 발전시키는 보다 적실한 신학적 서사를 위한 상상력을 키워야 할 것이다. 나아가 오늘날의 맥락을 수놓고 있는 다양한 서사들과 대화하면서 창의적인 신앙의 서사를 창출하여 하나님께서 온 창조세계를 다스린다는 복음을 힘차게 증언할 뿐만 아니라 삶 속에서 실천해야 할 것이다.
