여성 브레이킹 선수들의 젠더불평등 경험 탐색 = A Study on Gender Perception Based on the Experiences of Female Breaking Athletes

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 브레이킹씬에서 나타나는 젠더불평등 문제를 심층적으로 분석하고, 이를 개선하기 위한 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 장기간 활동한 여성 브레이킹 선수들을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하여, 브레이킹 내 젠더 불평등의 형성 원인을 규명하고해결 방안을 모색하였다. 연구 결과, 브레이킹씬에서 여성 선수들은 남성 중심적 평가 구조와 성적 대상화를 통한 젠더 위계 형성을주요한 젠더 불평등 경험으로 인식하고 있었다. 또한, 이러한 불평등이 심화되는 원인으로 생물학적 차이의 경시, 남성 중심 종목으로서의 인식, 남초 집단 문화 형성이 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구는 브레이킹 씬 내 젠더 불평등을 개선하기 위한 실천적방안으로 성인지 감수성 교육 실시, 여성 선수들의 참여 및 리더십 강화, 브레이킹 대회의 공정한 평가 체계 구축을 제안한다. 본 연구는 브레이킹이 국제 스포츠 종목으로서 보다 포괄적이고 평등한 환경을 조성하는 데 기여하고자 하며, 나아가 스포츠 내 양성평등실현을 위한 기초 자료를 제공할 것으로 기대된

The purpose of this study was to analyze the issue of gender inequality in the breaking scene in depth and to propose measures to address it. To achieve this, in-depth interviews were conducted with female breaking athletes with extensive experience in order to identify the causes of gender inequality in breaking and to explore possible solutions. The findings indicated that female athletes in the breaking scene perceived male-centered evaluation structures and the formation of gender hierarchy through sexual objectification as key experiences of gender inequality. Additionally, the factors that exacerbated this inequality included the disregard for biological differences, the perception of breaking as a male-dominated sport, and the formation of a male-dominated group culture. Based on these findings, the study proposed practical measures to mitigate gender inequality in the breaking scene, including the implementation of gender sensitivity education, enhancement of female athletes’ participation and leadership, and the establishment of a fair evaluation system in breaking competitions. This study aimed to contribute to the creation of a more inclusive and equitable environment as breaking developed as an international sport and to serve as a foundational resource for the realization of gender equality in sports.
