This study has been carried out to analyze if there are any meaningful differences of the instruction using simulation program supporting ability leveled learning from general simulation program, which is usually used in the electronic class of vocational high school, in terms of learning achievement.
Simulation program and learning achievement have been respectively set as independent and dependent variable for the correlation analysis. The main question of this study is the following.
Are there any statistically meaningful differences of the instruction using simulation program with ability leveled learning from general simulation program in terms of learning achievement?
To get the answer of the question, 70 students, in the 2nd grade of electronic class at B high school located in Bu-cheon, have been selected as sampled experiment population. With the pre-test of learning achievement, 60 students, excluding 10 students with highest and lowest score from the average, have been finally selected as sampled population. 30 students are randomly assigned into each sample unit with the simulation program supporting ability leveled learning and the general simulation program.
The lectures have been implemented 8 times for 4 weeks to Both group. The t-Test has been taken place to analyze the difference between pre and post-test result in terms of learning achievement.
The followings are the results of the analysis.
First, the group of students who had received instruction using simulation program supporting ability leveled learning and those who had received instruction using general simulation program appeared to have statistically meaningful differences in terms of learning achievement(t=2.43, p<.05).
Second, the group of students with simulation program supporting ability leveled learning had been divided into 3 levels, such as high, middle and low, to verify the effectiveness of the learning achievement. As a result, middle and low leveled students showed an effective improvement in terms of learning achievement(middle: t=5.05, p<.01, low: t=5.75, p<.01).
From the result above, it is assumed that the students with simulation program supporting ability leveled learning has been naturally motivated by the interest and curiosity of new studying tool, and as a result, improved the learning achievement. And also, especially middle and low leveled students showed an considerable improvement in terms of learning achievement.
Based on the results of this study, the long-term study on the various way should be followed to verify the effectiveness of simulation Program. The study should focus on finding out what kind of effects the simulation program have not only on different student levels, classes and genders but also on different dependent variables such as attitude and interest.
Lastly, further various teaching methods need to be studied for the improvement of learning achievement in vocational high school.
