Variational approach in finite element method using piecewise polynomial basis function has been studied with the operator theory and finite dimensional inner product space. In this paper finite element method in Hilbert space is treated simply and cubic B-Spline is used as the basis function to solve the 2nd order linear differerential equation having two boundary condition χ(0)=χ(1)=0 and compared the approximating solution with the result from the exact solution.
