누룩나무(유피)의 약리학적 연구(Ⅰ) : -해열, 진통, 소염 작요에 관한 연구- = Study on the effect of Ulmus butanol extract on the pharmacological action in rats

Ulmus has been used for a folk medicine for a long time. There are few studies on clinical pharmacologically action of ulmus from our country.
In the present work, we were separated butanol extract from ulmus and observed antipyretic, analgesic, antiinflammatory effect on the comparision of aspirin, and oxygen consumption in rat liver.
After ulmus butanol extract(0.5%) was fed for rats for two weeks, the result were as follow.
Ulmus butanol extract decreased the body temperature which is increased by typhoid vaccine(7.5�/�). Ulmus butanol extract postponded the time of pain threshold and decreased the edema which is induced by carrageenin(0.01%), and intestinal absorption of aspirin were increased by ulmus butanol extract, whereas little affected on the oxygen consumption in rat liver.
Considering th about results, there observation suggest that active component of ulmus possess the properties of antipyretic, analgesic and antiinflammatory effect, further investigation about ulmus is need.
