안경광학과 학생들의 우울과 스트레스에 따른 대학생활 적응에 관한 연구

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze depression and stress factors associated with optometric students’ adjustment to college life and to provide students with support and career guidance. Methods: This study compared and analyzed the degree of depression, stress, and adjustment to college life among 132 students from the optometry department. Depression was assessed using the Korean version of the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CES-D) scale, stress was measured using the Global Assessment of Recent Stress (GARS) scale, and college life was assessed using the Student Adjustment to College Questionnaire (SACQ). All data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 18.0; the significance level was p <0.05. Results: The examination of the sub-variables according to depression and stress of optometric students revealed scores of 3.15 for emotional life, 2.91 for college satisfaction, and 2.79 for academic adaptation in the depressed group. Regarding the high stress index, university satisfaction was 2.67 and academic adjustment was 2.58. Conclusions: The optometric students were found to have low academic satisfaction and college satisfaction when they were depressed and when they experienced greater stress, emotional instability, and difficulty with academic adjustment; thus, indicating that depression and stress had an influence on college life adjustment.
