그릿이 아동의 주관적 웰빙에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 한국아동청소년패널조사(2018) 초4패널 1, 2차 자료를 사용하여 아동들의 그릿 수준와 주관적 웰빙관계를 분석하였다. 다수의 국내 선행연구들이 아동의 웰빙에 미치는 영향요인을 분석해왔으나 그릿의 개념을 아동의 웰빙 증진 가능성과 연계시킨 실증연구는 매우 제한적이었다. 본 연구에서는 전국 수준에서 수집된 대표성 있는 자료를 이용하여 학교고정효과 모형을 적용, 주관적 웰빙 지표를 국제적 척도 기준에 맞춰 다각적 분석을 수행하였다. 연구결과 아동의 그릿-흥미유지와 삶의 만족도 그리고 그릿-노력지속과 학교만족도와의 통계적 유의성을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 분석된 결과는 누락변수 편의에도 일정 부분 강건한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 초등학생의 그릿 수준을 높이기 위한 교육적 개입이 적기에 필요함을 확인하였다. 이를 위해 초등학교 교육과정과 연계한 학교 현장에서 적용 가능한 그릿 증진방안을 제안하고 가정 및 지역사회지원의 필요성도 제기하였다.

Despite the growing concerns about child well-being and mental health in many developed nations, little attention has been paid to how grit influences child subjective well-being. Moreover, most previous studies have relied on a single measure of child well-being such as life satisfaction or happiness based on cross-sectional analyses. To address these issues, we rely cm the nationally representative Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS 2018-2019). We examine the relationship between grit and subjective well-being in a multi-level school fixed-effects model framework employing various measures of well-being. We show that there are significant relationships between child grit-interest and life satisfaction, and grit-effort and school satisfaction. Moreover, tile observed findings are robust to unobserved confounding. We discuss the implications of our findings for interventions promoting child grit in the contexts of classroom instruction, family, and local district.
