Smartphone, which is an optimization of mobile internet, is greatly influencing the media environment. This is a new era in which one can manage to use internet, e-mail, browse web, SNS, Fax, internet banking, game with smartphone. This kind of change is positively improving people’s lives. Based on mobile, news can be made and
spread. Application, however, has been a new way for people to acquire news. In order to adapt to this new trend, domestic companies and media started to develop smartphone news application service. Users read news through news application, and it’s convinced that with the help of news application, news consumption will develop better in the future.
In this paper, I take the new way of news access smartphone news application as research subject. Based on use and gratification theory, I studied about using motive and news value appraisal’s influence on satisfaction and using purpose of smartphone news
application.

In order to solve all the problems above, I took Chinese college students who are using smartphone news application as objects of study. I analyzed data with SPSS, according to the factors, I used different analyzing methods, such as factorial analysis multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analyses.
The result of this research is, first, using motives of smartphone news application can be concluded as follows: easiness, omnipresence,relaxation and entertainment, information, personal relationship.
Second, among the using motives, easiness, relaxation and entertainment, information can influence satisfaction. Third, easiness, relaxation and entertainment, personal relationship factors can influence using purpose. Fourth, among news value appraisal, credibility, preference, represent ability can influence satisfaction.
Fifth, among news value appraisal, news represent ability, news quality factors can influence using motive. Sixth, among easiness, relaxation and entertainment, information factors, Chinese college students, who have a high level of credibility in news application, also tend to have high level of satisfaction in it. Seventh, Chinese
college students who have high level of relaxation and entertainment, information, personal relationship, credibility, represent ability, also tend to have a high level of smartphone news application using intention.
