기술창업기업 초기 성과에 미치는 영향요인 분석- 청년창업사관학교 졸업 기업을 대상으로 - = Analysis of Factors Influencing the Early Performance of Technology-Based Start-ups

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기술창업은 국가적 측면에서 새로운 성장 동력과 생존전략의 핵심이다. 선진국은 일찍이 기술창업 활성화 융합 확산 기반의 신 시장을 창출하기 위하여 다양한 정책적 지원을 마련해왔다. 우리나라 또한 벤처기업 육성을 위한 각종지원을 해왔다. 청년창업사관학교는 기술창업기업 육성의 중심에서 체계적인 창업보육시스템을 기반으로 창업기업의 시장경쟁력 향상을 위한 노력을 해왔다. 그러나 많은 창업기업이 창업 후 1∼3년 이내에 발생하는 ‘죽음의 계곡’을 극복하지 못하여 시장에서 퇴출되고 있다. 죽음의 계곡은 개발 제품의 사업화를 위한 자금과 역량 부족이 단계별로 발생하게 되는 현상을 지칭하는데, 최근 죽음의 계곡 극복을 위한 관심이 대두되고 있다. 죽음의 계곡 극복 방안을 제시할 수 있다면, 창업 보육에서부터 역량 강화 및 네트워크 활성화를 통하여 창업기업이 시장경쟁력을 보유할 수 있게 되고, 장기적으로는 창업을 통한 국가경쟁력 확보가 가능해질 것이다. 본 연구는 초기 창업기업의 성과와 성과에 영향을 미치는 창업보육시스템과 창업가 역량간의 영향 관계에 대한 실증연구이다. 초기 창업기업의 성과로서 재무적성과가 아닌 비재무적성과와 기술적성과를 제시하였는데, 초기 기술창업기업은 죽음의 계곡 현상으로 매출 등이 높게 발생하지 않고, 매출이 높지 않더라도 성장에 대한 정성적 성과가 보인다면 성장단계를 유지할 가능성이 높기 때문이다. 또한 창업경험은 기업 창업 과정과 기업가의 역량, 기업 운영에 영향을 미치는 요인이다. 따라서 창업 경험의 차이에 따른 분석을 통한 초기 창업의 성공을 위한 고려요인의 차이가 발생할 것으로 판단되어 차이분석을 하였다. 본 연구는 청년창업사관학교 보육시스템을 1년 동안 이용한 후 졸업한 기업이며, 창업 1∼2년 된 초기 기업을 대상으로 설문을 수행하였다. 이중 222개 기업의 설문을 분석대상으로 사용하였다. 설문은 창업보육시스템(교육, 인프라, 코칭, 네트워크), 창업가역량(기술적 역량, 전략적사고 역량, 조직적 역량), 초기 창업기업 성과(기술적 성과, 비재무적 성과), 그리고 창업경험으로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기술창업기업의 기술적성과에 미치는 영향 변수로서 교육, 인프라, 네트워크, 기술적 역량, 조직적 역량이 도출되었으며, 비재무적성과에 미치는 영향 변수로서 교육, 인프라, 네트워크, 기술적 역량이 도출되었다. 둘째, 창업경험에 따른 조절효과 분석 결과, 창업경험을 보유한 기업일수록 보육시스템이 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기술창업기업의 초기 시장 진입 단계에서의 성과를 평가하기 위한 기준을 도출하였다. 기술창업기업은 지속적 성장을 위한 혁신 기술 및 목표 대비 성장 현황에 대한 자체적인 분석을 통하여 성장가능성을 높이 평가한다. 즉 초기 기술창업기업은 기술적 성과와 비재무적 성과를 통해 기업의 성장 가능성을 평가하고 성장단계에 진입하려 한다. 둘째, 초기 기술창업기업의 시장경쟁력 확보를 위한 핵심 요인을 창업보육 관점과 창업가 관점에서 제시하였다. 창업기업의 성공적인 시장 진입을 위해서는 네트워크 및 사후관리가 보완된 창업보육 지원 제도가 필요하며, 창업 후 효과적으로 기업 경영을 하기 위한 창업가의 역량이 필요함을 증명하였다. 셋째, 창업경험에...

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Technological start-ups are both an important source of innovation and technological advancement in the national side. Developed countries hae been founded technical start-ups and supported through various policy. Korea also has been various support systems in order to discharge successful start-ups.
However, many star-ups appear “Death Valley” within from one to three years after establish company. Death Valley defines that lack of funds and competency of start-up and recently studies methods to overcome that from industry and academia. If researchers can suggest ways to overcome “Death Valley”, it will be possible to ensure the long term competitiveness through technological start-up.
This is an empirical study on the influencing relation between business incubating system and entrepreneur's competence which are crucial success factors influencing the early performance of technology-based start-ups.
Based on the previous studies, detailed factors of the start-up business incubating system which is a technology-based start-up support program, competence variables of entrepreneurs for company management and technical performance and non-financial performance of early start-ups were extracted. Also, the moderating effect between start-up experience-based performance and antecedents was investigated.
This study survey's targets are start-ups with incubation system of “Youth Startup-Academy” and 1~3 years after start-up. 222 samples ware analyzed for this study.
The results of this study are as follows.
First, as variables influencing technical performance of technology-based start-ups, education, infrastructure, network, technical competence and organizational competence were extracted, and as variables influencing non-financial performance, education, infrastructure, network and technical capability were extracted.
Second, when analyzing the moderating effect depending on start-up experience, in companies with start-up experience, the business incubating system had a more significant effect on performance.
Key implications based on the results of the study are as follow :First, it suggests that the criteria for evaluating the performance in the early technological start-up. At the growth stage, start-up is evaluating the potential of their businesses, so non-financial performance and technological performance are important that stages.
Second, it presented the key factors in business incubation and entrepreneur perspective for ensuring market competitiveness of the technological start-up. For successful market entry of start-up need to support network of business incubation and ability of entrepreneurs.
Third, it is important to start-up experience in business incubation programs. The startup experience entrepreneur is strong purpose at process business incubation more than non-experience entrepreneur.
In conclusion, it is anticipated that these findings will provide helpful implications for a performance research for continued growth of early start-ups and a business perspective of start-up business incubator. And if further research is conducted about key performances in the industry of technological startup and each stage of life-cycle startup, expected to be the basis for a successful startup and ongoing growth.
