This study was to find out the effect on respect toward life by children to become helpful in developing life respecting program in the aspects of change awareness and life education for children's education on respect toward life after performing a nature experience activity of five year old children at the kindergarten. The problems of this study were as follows:
1. Does the nature experience activity at the kindergarten have effect on respect toward life by children?
1-1 Is there difference in the respect toward life between the experiment group that has performed the nature experience activity at the kindergarten and the comparison group that has not performed the activity?
1-2 Is there difference in the life respecting attitude between the experiment group that has performed the nature experience activity at the kindergarten and the comparison group that has not performed the activity?
1-3 Is there difference in the life respecting activity between the experiment group that has performed the nature experience activity at the kindergarten and the comparison group that has not performed the activity?
2. Does the nature experience activity at the kindergarten have influence on respect toward life according to the gender of the child?
2-1 Does the respect toward life by the experiment group that has performed kindergarten nature experience activity have difference according to the gender of the child?
The subjects for this study consisted of56children consisted of 28 children from each of two classes of five year old children attending G Kindergarten located in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. The instruments have been used after finding out the validity of details from 2 specialists by making corrections and improvements to be appropriate for the children's level based on the life respecting attitude survey questionnaire by Bai, Yong Cheol (2003) and the survey tool on life respecting attitude of children by Lee, Hee Ok (2005).
The statistical analyses related to proposed problems were calculated using SPSS Win 15.0 program and performed post verification Scheffe after processing with ANOVA in order to find out the difference between subcategories with post scores of experiment groups.
The findings of this study were as follows:
First, as a result of examining on the effect of nature experience activity on respect toward life by children, all factors were shown as having significant effect on the awareness of respect toward life. We can see that it has positive effect on the life respecting attitude, knowledge and activity that are subcategories of respect toward life.
Second, as a result of finding out whether the respect toward life by the experiment group has difference according to gender after performing nature experience activity, both male and female were shown as having same effect while a significant difference was shown in the awareness of respect toward life by female children.
Through the results shown above, the positive effects of nature experience activity on respect toward life by children have been demonstrated. Therefore, the teachers would have to perform various forms of constructive nature experience activities in educational scenes to make children value nature, know how to cherish it along with showing changes in their behavior as well as the knowledge and attitude toward treating life.
