      As the concept of natural and organic cosmetics is included in the Korean Cosmetics Act, it is necessary to find natural derived cosmetic ingredient which have efficacy and stability. In this study, we investigated the antioxidant and anti-melanogenic activities of Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract. The antioxidant activities were measured through DPPH, ABTS scavenging assay and FRAP assay. We investigated the reduction activity of the intracellular ROS using DCF-DA fluorescence and we further researched the cytoprotective effect. To investigate the whitening effect we conducted tyrosinase inhibition assay, L-DOPA oxidation inhibition assay and melanin synthesis assay on B16f10 melanoma cell. Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract showed strong antioxidant activities on DPPH, ABTS radical scavenging assay. Furthermore, Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract decreased the intracellular ROS on skin normal cells. Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract also increased the cell viabilities reduced by 2,2-azobis dihydrochloride(AAPH). Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract showed inhibition activites of tyrosinase, L-DOA oxidation. Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract also inhibited melanin synthesis on B16F10 melanoma cell. Based on these result, we could propose Ajuga decumbens callus extract and biorenovated Ajuga decumbens callus extract are the natural cosmetic ingredients which have antioxidant, whitening properties.
