Recently, due to the COVID-19, the sense of efficacy for the career of Specialized high school students has been decreasing, and the influence of long-term online classes has had a negative impact on learning outcomes due to passive participation in classrooms. Therefore, this study conducted an empirical analysis of 485 students from 12 Commercial Specialized High Schools nationwide on how career decision self-efficacy affects learning achievement and basic vocational competency through learning engagement.
As a result of the study, First, career decision self-efficacy has a positive (+) effect on learning engagement, and Second, learning engagement has a positive (+) effect on both learning achievement and basic vocational competency. Third, career decision-making self-efficacy has a positive effect on both learning achievement and basic vocational competency. Fourth, learning engagement has a complete mediating effect in the relationship between career decision self-efficacy and learning achievement. Fifth, learning engagement has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy and basic vocational competency. Therefore, in order to improve the learning achievement and basic vocational competency of Commercial Specialized High School students, it is necessary to make school-level efforts to increase self-efficacy in career decision-making, and teachers are required to have the ability to apply various teaching-learning methods in order to increase students’ participation in class.
