대상관계이론과 유아의 신앙발달 = Object relations theory and infant faith development

국문 초록 (Abstract)

신자의 신앙생활은 평생을 통해서 이루어진다. 그런데 어떤 이는 하나님을 향한 신앙이 온전한가 하면 어떤 이는 그렇지 못하다. 신앙생활을 하면서도 하나님에 대한 끊임없는 오해와 굴곡이 신앙을 어렵게 하는 것이다. 이러한 하나님을 향한 왜곡이 어디서 발생하는 것일까? 이것은 한 개인이 하나님을 받아들인 그때부터 발생하는 것이 아니다. 이미 영유아기의 대상관계에서 왜곡이 있었으며, 그에 따른 결과일 뿐이다.
장성한 믿음의 단계에 이르는 것, 이것은 어느 날 갑자기 이뤄지는 것일 수 없다. 오랜 시간 동안 인내하며 순종하면서 이뤄질 수 있는 결실인 것이다. 이것을 목표로 학문적 매진을 다하는 것이 기독교교육에서의 사명이기도 하다. 특히 하나님의 원하시는 믿는 자의 삶을 살기 위해서 중심적인 역할을 하고 있는 하나님에 대한 이해는 우리가 익히 알고 있는 대로 유아의 성장과정에서 형성된다는 사실이 이미 많은 학자에 의하여 증명되고 있다. 그러므로 유아의 성장과정과 신앙의 형성과정을 탐구하는 일은 기독교교육을 실천하는 데에 있어서 중요한 일로 부각된다.
하나님을 아는 일과 관련하여 시도되는 최근의 연구들이 있다. 이 최근의 연구는 전통적 이해 형태와 견주어 볼 때, 그 학문적 배경에서 특이성을 보인다. 곧 사회과학적 이론을 수용하되, 그중에서도 심리학 이론을 수용하고 있다는 점이다. 심리학의 접목의 한 모델로 심층심리학의 대상관계이론이 있다. 이 이론은 하나님을 아는 일에 기초가 되는 하나님 표상형성에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있는 것으로 인정받고 있다. 특히 대상관계이론은 영유아기에 부모나 중요한 사람, 또는 사물과의 관계경험이 하나님 표상에 대한 기초를 제공한다는 점을 강조한다.
영유아기에 해당되는 아이들을 가진 부모나 주변의 중요한 사람 중의 하나인 주일학교교사나 어린이집, 유치원의 교사가 최우선으로 생각해야 할 것은 아이들이 알고 있는 개별적인 하나님 표상에 대한 이해라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 이해를 통해서 영유아가 자신들이 드리는 주일예배와 부모들의 신앙생활과 교사들의 가르침을 통해서 개인의 사적인 하나님 표상을 확장된 형태로 발전시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한 하나님 표상형성에 있어서의 재형성 과정이 긍정적으로 이루어 질 수 있다. 그것은 건강하고 안정된 신앙발달에 있어서 결정적으로 중요한 역할을 하게 될 것이다.
따라서 본 연구는 건강하고 안정된 신앙발달이 이루어가는 데 중요한 역할을 하는 하나님 표상이 유아기에 어떻게 형성되는가에 주된 관심을 둔다. 아울러 대상관계 이론가의 이론에 근거하여 유아기의 신앙발달과정을 밝힘으로써 긍정적인 하나님 표상 형성을 돕는 기독교교육방법을 제시하는 데 연구 목적이 있다. 이러한 논의를 통해 긍정적인 하나님 표상이 획일화된 종교의식에서 형성되는 것이 아니라 유아기에 중요한 사람들과 맺는 관계에 크게 의존하고 있다는 사실을 이해하고, 교회와 가정과 사회가 서로 연결된 교육을 수행해야 한다는 점에 촉구할 것이다. 필자의 연구는 다음과 같은 순서에 따라 되었다.

Faith growth has been completed through life. Someone has perfect faith, others doesn't. Continual misunderstanding and distortion for God makes faith growth difficult. Why does this take place? It doesn't begin from the time when one believes in Jesus. He has already had the distortion of object relations in babyhood and it is only the consequences of that.
Mature faith has not been built in a day. This is the fruit of longtime perseverance and obedience. The mission of Christian Education is striving scientifically to aim at this growth. Many scholars prove that understanding of God which plays the main role in living a godly life, as we know, has been built in the infant's developmental process. The study of infantile growth process and faith building process is very important in the practice of Christian Education.
Recently some studies has been taken in relation to understanding God. These studies have a particular background as against the traditional view of study. That is to say, they accept the social science theory, especially psychology theory. A model theory connecting with psychology is Object Relations Theory in Depth Psychology. This theory is acknowledged as playing an important role in building the image of God which is the basis in understanding God. Especially this emphasizes that relations experience with parents, important persons, and objects in infant and early childhood provides the basis in forming image of God.
The most important thing that parents having infants, Sunday school teachers, and preschool teachers should consider, is how each child develops forming of image of God. With this understanding, infants develop their own understanding of the image of God in extensive fashions through Sunday worship meetings, parents' christian life, teachers' instruction. And rebuilding process in forming image of God can be positively taken. As the result, this will play an important role in growth of healthy and stable faith.
Consequently, this study is chiefly concerned in that how the image of God, which plays an important role in healthy and stable faith growth of the individual, is formed in babyhood. At the same time this study aims at presenting Christian Educational method, which helps positive building of image of God, by making clear the infant faith growth on the basis of the theory of this theorists. With this discussion, we should understand that the image of God isn't only built by institutional religious teaching, but also depends on the individual life journey, especially relationships with important persons in babyhood. So to help develop a positive image of God, churches, parents and society do an education which is connected organically. This study will be presented in the following order
