According to the Ministry of Education (2020), there are 120,000 foreign students in Korea. Among them, the number of Chinese international students increased from 300 in 1996 to 70,000 in 2019, which is accounting for 44.4% of all international students.
However, as the competition to attract international students, especially centered on quantitative perspective, grow intensifies, various negative aspects are also emerging. For example, as the number of international students increases, the number of illegal stays in violation of the conditions of stay has also increased. In addition, various psychological, academic, and life problems arose because international students could not adjust to Korea society. Therefore, Korean colleges and universities need to find short-term strategies for attracting foreign students, especially Chinese students, as well as long-term strategies such as receiving various scholarships or subsidizing dormitory expenses. So, in the real sense of the goal at the present time when the number of foreign students is increasing, it will be necessary to closely examine, understand, help, and systematically manage the difficulties experienced by foreign students while they are stay in the university.
Therefore, this study analyzed significant differences in these three aspects according to the relationship between school festival selection attributes, festival satisfaction, revisit intention, and adjustment to overseas study according to their demographic characteristics for Chinese international students, who account for a large proportion. The main purpose is to find a sustainable strategy for attracting and retaining foreign students by developing and operating various school festivals to understand the characteristics and desires of Chinese international students and improve the quality of their study abroad life.
Considering the difficulty of meeting in person and distributing questionnaires in the age of COVID-19, we collected data through a survey of international students by using WeChat, which is mostly used by Chinese people on the Internet. Out of a total of 260 copies, 258 questionnaires were recovered, and 221 copies (85% of acceptance rates) were used as analysis data, excluding 37 copies of insincere responses.
According to the result of factor analysis, Chinese students school festival selection attributes were found to be "festival programs and infrastructure" and "multi-cultural content" as two factors, and the degree of adaptation to study abroad life was "adaptation to school life" and "adaptation to social life". two types were also extracted.
According to the demographic characteristics of international students in China, hypothesis 1, 'The university festival selection attributes will have a significant effect on the satisfaction of the university festival' was verified through multiple regression analysis. Among the factors, festival program and infrastructure were found to have a significant effect on satisfaction with university festivals, so the hypothesis was adopted. Second, hypothesis 2 that 'satisfaction with university festivals will have a significant effect on intention to revisit university festivals' was verified through multiple regression analysis. Hypothesis 2 was accepted. Third, Hypothesis 3 was t-tested, 'There will be a significant difference in the degree of adaptation to study abroad life in college festival selection attributes, festival satisfaction, and revisit intention.' There will be significant differences in attributes, festival satisfaction, and revisit intention.' Hypothesis 3-1, 'There was a significant difference in college festival selection attributes, festival satisfaction, and revisit intention according to social life adaptation among study abroad life adaptations. There will be.' Hypothesis 3-2 was accepted.
Therefore, it can be seen that certain selection attributes among university festivals have a significant effect on satisfaction with university festivals, and that satisfaction with university festivals can have a significant effect on intention to revisit university festivals. In addition, it was found that by increasing the degree of adaptation to study abroad life, the selection attributes of school festivals, festival satisfaction, and revisit intentions could be increased.
