근육․근막이완요법과 스웨디쉬 마사지의 효과에 대한 비교 연구 = A Comparative Study on the Effects of Muscular and Myofascial Release and Swedish Massage

This study aimed to compare muscular and myofascial release and Swedish massage to determine their effects on body type and provide useful information to do clinical activities for body contouring. A total of 8 sessions, one hour in each of 8 weeks from 5th of March to 8th of May 2010 were implemented among a total of 20 women in their twenties to forties with unbalanced body type (10 for the experimental group provided with muscular and myofascial release and 10 for the control group provided with Swedish massage) and moire topography was used while measuring body composition before and after the management.
The results showed that the slope of Y angle was higher in the control group at upper trapezius for the control group (p<.01) and upper trapezius for the experimental group (p<.001) and higher in the control group at subscapularis (p<.01), pectoral muscle and psoas (p<.01), gluteus medius muscle (p<.01) for the experimental group, and gluteus medius muscle (p<.05) for the control group. Fat mass reduction was greater in the experimental group from 15.35 kg before management to 24.14% after management (p<.001), as compared with the reduction from 16.52 kg before management to 13.90 kg after management (p<.001) for the control group. The experimental group also showed greater reduction in the fat mass rate from 28.16% before management to 24.14% after management (p<.001), as compared with the reduction from 26.86% before management to 25.04% after management (p<.001) for the control group.
