고령층의 경제활동 참여증가가 청년고용 등에 미치는 영향 : 광주ㆍ전남지역을 중심으로 = A Study on the effects of increase in elderly employment on youth emplyment : Evidences from Gwangju and Jeollanam-do

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 고령화가 빠르게 진행되고 있는 광주·전남지역에서 고령층과 청년층 고용간의 동태적 관계를 분석하였다. 구체적으로 다중회귀분석을 실시하고 상이성지수를 산출하였다.
연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 광주광역시와 전라남도 지역에 대해 회귀방정식을 추정한 결과 두 곳 모두에서 55세부터 64세까지의 고용률이 20대의 고용률에 통계적으로 유의하지 않는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 광주광역시에서는 65세 이상의 고용률이 20대의 고용률에 통계적으로 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 상이성지수 산출을 통하여 두 지역의 청년층과 고령층의 노동시장 경합도를 산업별, 직종별로 살펴보았는데, 광주광역시의 20대와 65세이상의 경합도는 20대와 55-64세의 경합도보다 낮으며 서로 이질적이었다. 반면 전라남도에서는 둘 사이에 차이는 있지만 대체로 유사
한 움직임을 보였다.
요컨대 회귀모형을 이용한 분석에서는 유의한 대체관계가 발견되지 않았으며, 상이성지수를 이용한 분석에서는 두 지역 모두에서 청년층과 65세 이상 고령층의 경합도가 청년층과 55-64세 고령층의 경합도보다 낮았으며 청년층과 55-64세 고령층의 경합도는 시간이 지남에 따라 증가하고 있음을 발견하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Using multiple regression analysis and the dissimilarity index, we analyzed the dynamic relationship between the employment of the elderly and the youth in the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do where ageing is rapidly progressing.
The results of the analysis are as follows. Estimating regression models for Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, we found that the employment rate from age 55 to age 64 had a statistically insignificant effect on the employment rate in the 20s. However, in Gwangju, it was found that the employment rate of 65 years or older had a statistically significant positive effect on the employment rate of the 20s. Next, examining labor market competition in the two regions through the calculation of the dissimilarity index, we found not only that Gwangju’s contention level between the 20s and 65 years or older was lower than that of the 20s and 55-64 years old but also that they were heterogeneous. In Jeollanam-do, on the other hand,, although there was a difference between the two, they generally showed similar movement.
Summing up, no significant substitution relationship was found in the regression analysis. However, we found that, in the analysis using the dissimilarity index, the contention of the youth and the elderly aged 65 years or older was lower than that of the youth and the elderly aged 55-64 in both regions. We also found that the degree of competition between the young and the elderly aged 55-64 was increasing over time.
